Enhanced Redaction and Security

by Jon Kerry-Tyerman

Security Lock

Early this morning, we released our second set of new features for the month! Today’s release includes several new features designed specifically around your feedback. We think you’ll love them!

1) Text Redaction

We’ve extended our redaction tool set! You can now directly select any text in a PDF document (our standard image format) to redact. Just click on the text redaction tool in the PDF viewer toolbar, and highlight away. With one more click, you can also redact every instance of the highlighted word or phrase within the current document.

2) PII Highlighting

Speaking of redaction, there are some types of personally-identifiable information (PII) that you’ll need to find and redact frequently, like email addresses, phone numbers, and Social Security numbers. So, we’ve made that process dead simple. In the review window, you can add a Custom Hit search for those common text patterns; just select the one you want from the drop-down that appears when you put the cursor in the search box. If you’re an admin, and you want those patterns highlighted everywhere, simply add them to the list of Persistent Highlights for your case in the same way.

3) Two-Factor Authentication

We take security very seriously, and we know you do too. That’s why we’ve added two-factor authentication (TFA) to the Everlaw ediscovery platform. You can activate TFA for your own account, or we can activate it for your entire case. Once activated, you’ll be required to authenticate every computer or device through which you’d like to access Everlaw by providing both your password (factor one) and either a one-time code emailed to you or a rolling code from the linked Google Authenticator app on your mobile device (factor two). If you select the “remember this computer” option when logging in, the platform will remember your computer or device for thirty days, during which you can bypass the TFA process.

We love to craft features in response to your needs, and we hope this release reflects that. If there is anything else you’d like to see us prioritize on our product development road map, just drop us a line!
