Introducing Multi-Matter Models by Everlaw
Last year, when Everlaw launched EverlawAI Assistant in beta, it offered our customers secure access to the power of generative AI in document review, trial, and deposition preparation. With near-instant observations, AI document summaries, the ability to answer open-ended questions with direct citations on-demand, AI writing assistance, AI coding suggestions, and more, it has unlocked new doors for what’s possible with AI in the law.
Now, with the introduction of Multi-Matter Models, Everlaw remains poised to continue adding to the EverlawAI suite, powering law firms, corporations, and government entities with innovative, easy to use AI. Building on the foundations of Everlaw’s powerful predictive coding, Multi-Matter Models allow legal teams to apply their previously trained predictive coding models to new cases, instantly delivering prioritized review with AI.
Jumpstart AI-Powered Review in New Matters
Everlaw has long been an innovator when it comes to AI in the legal space. Features like predictive coding, clustering, machine translation, and EverlawAI Assistant allow users to leverage AI at all points of the discovery and trial preparation process.
Everlaw’s Multi-Matter Models leverage first-gen AI for document review and build on predictive coding to create repeatable, scalable AI solutions for legal professionals reviewing for similar issues across multiple matters.
Designed to be lasting and versatile, Multi-Matter Models enable you to use previously trained predicting coding models to find relevant documents in new, similar matters, saving time by utilizing past work. Since these models are already trained, they can generate prediction scores on documents in new matters right away. Once initial prediction scores are generated, teams can immediately start reviewing documents that the Multi-Matter model predicts to be relevant.
Creating a Multi-Matter Model is an easy wizard-driven process on Everlaw. Organization administrators are able to create a Multi-Matter Model for their teams by selecting one or more existing predictive coding models to find the same type of relevant documents in similar matters (i.e., datasets involved in the same area of law or subject matter) and then specifying additional information to help members of the organization determine when to use the Multi-Matter Model in future projects. Here is a diagram of the simplified three-step process:
Once created, models will be available in the Multi-Matter Model library for selection and use in all projects across the organization. Members with the appropriate project-level permissions will be able to use any available Multi-Matter Model to generate prediction scores without needing to train a new model from the ground up.
Optimize Resources to Maximize Investment
Everlaw’s Multi-Matter Models looks to take its place as the next iteration of AI-powered document review technology. Leveraging past predictive coding models that have already been trained and using them on new matters means no more starting from scratch every time you take on a new case, no more wasting time waiting to train a new model before starting to prioritize review, and no more upfront training to get prediction scores.
Over time, organizations on Everlaw will be able to leverage a library of their own tailored Multi-Matter Models to find important documents in specific legal matters, enabling review teams to start reviewing documents that are predicted to be relevant sooner and more efficiently.
For example, if you are general counsel for a large corporation or your firm handles matters of labor and employment law, you’re likely to work on a number of HR-related disputes. If you have to build a new model each time you receive a case about workplace misconduct or wrongful termination, that’s a lot of time dedicated to repeatedly creating the same workflow. Multi-Matter Models eliminate that friction by enabling your organization to leverage predictive coding models that have been previously trained to find relevant documents in your specific legal domain to jumpstart your case.
Everlaw’s Multi-Matter Models seek to ensure your investment pays off with real value. Curating your organization’s library of past predictive coding models that can be reused in similar matters frees you up to focus resources on other high-value tasks.
Minimizing costs, optimizing resources, and maximizing investments is an organizational priority no matter which industry you’re part of. Realizing these types of returns are invaluable for law firms, government entities, managed service providers, and corporations looking to reach that next level.
