AJ Shankar is the Founder and CEO of Everlaw, the cloud-native ediscovery platform that unlocks the collaborative power of litigation and investigative teams.

AJ received an AB in Applied Mathematics/Computer Science from Harvard University, and a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley. He founded Everlaw in 2010 after consulting for a law firm in grad school, where he observed firsthand the inefficiencies in the discovery and litigation process. He realized that the legal world needed better technology to derive insights from the ever-increasing deluge of discoverable evidence.

Fast forward to today, AJ has built Everlaw into a global company with over 1,000 customers including Fortune 100 corporate counsel, 91 of the Am Law 200, and all 50 state attorneys general. With a $2B+ valuation, Everlaw is funded by top-tier investors like Andreessen Horowitz, Menlo Ventures, CapitalG, and TPG Growth. AJ lives in Berkeley, Calif. with his family.

Gloria Lee is the Chief Legal Officer (CLO) at Everlaw, a cloud-based platform that unlocks the collaborative power of litigation and investigative teams.

As the company’s legal strategist, Gloria advises Everlaw’s executive leaders and Board of Directors to drive business growth while mitigating risk. She leads the legal department and is responsible for all legal, regulatory and privacy issues across the company.
Gloria brings to Everlaw over 25 years of experience as a ground-breaking trial lawyer and in-house counsel, with deep expertise in litigation, regulatory issues, technology and legal operations.

As CLO of Commure, a health-tech unicorn, Gloria oversaw the legal, regulatory, compliance, and security functions, and closed a merger with an imputed value of $6 billion. She also served as General Counsel (GC) at Newsela, an ed-tech unicorn. As Newsela’s first GC, she built the legal function from scratch, executed on a mandate to get the company IPO-ready and helped complete five acquisitions over two years.

Prior to Commure, Gloria served as VP, Deputy GC at Fitbit where she built and led various legal functions over time, helping the company launch more than 20 new products and services, and expand from 60 to more than 100 countries. In addition to successfully defending Fitbit in contentious patent and intellectual property litigation, Gloria was the company’s lead lawyer in Google’s $2.1 billion acquisition of Fitbit, shepherding the deal through rigorous antitrust review. Gloria worked with regulators around the world for nearly 15 months to successfully clear the merger in a climate of intense antitrust scrutiny of Big Tech, while dealing with novel data privacy issues.

Gloria has also held leadership positions at McKesson, a Fortune 10 healthcare company, where she advised on complex and novel legal matters. Prior, Gloria was a trial lawyer with the Oakland City Attorney’s Office, an attorney with the law firm of Morrison & Foerster, and a judicial law clerk for Chief Judge Pallmeyer of the U.S. District Court of the Northern District of Illinois.

Gloria received her B.A. with Honors from Swarthmore College and her J.D. Magna Cum Laude from the University of Minnesota Law School. She lives in the East Bay with her family and dog. She and her family love to travel, eating their way through countries. Ever the consummate litigation attorney, Gloria is a long time yoga devotee who still struggles to clear her mind.

Joanne Sprague is a recognized social impact leader with expertise in scaling programs, partnerships, and campaigns globally. Her current role as the first-ever head of the Everlaw for Good program brings her passion for using the power of markets to address one of the world’s biggest challenges, access to justice.

The Everlaw for Good program, established in 2017, aims to level the playing field for justice—an urgent need in a country where 92% of civil legal problems encountered by low-income people go unresolved, and a world where more than 5B people lack meaningful access to justice. The program offers Everlaw’s products at free and highly discounted rates to legal nonprofits, pro bono cases, investigative journalists, and educators to help litigators for the public good get to the truth efficiently and cost-effectively.

Prior to Everlaw, Joanne spent eight years in social impact at Facebook/Meta, where she helped build the company’s first suite of social impact products and programs, co-led the launch of its first community philanthropy fund, and oversaw a team that built programs focused on nonprofits, equity, and climate change. Prior to Facebook, Joanne was the CEO of a nonprofit startup that worked to improve LGBTQ+ inclusion by educating and activating allies. She has a background in international development, has lived in Kenya, India, and Nicaragua, and is a proud Returned Peace Corps Volunteer.

Joanne holds an AB in Mathematics from Dartmouth and an MBA from Duke.

A native of the San Francisco Bay Area, Joanne enjoys exploring locally and globally with her family and energetic dog.

Chuck Kellner is an expert ediscovery strategist with a record of success helping clients give and get the discovery they need with fairness and proportionality. His current role on Everlaw’s Value Engineering team brings innovation and positive impact to Am Law 100 and Fortune 500 litigation clients. A recognized legaltech evangelist and thought leader, Chuck often appears in publications and speaks at industry events on the trends impacting the legal profession.

Chuck’s experience includes Litigation and Practice Support Manager for an Am Law 50; litigation support operations director for a Big Eight; and consultant and executive for ediscovery consulting, services, and business development for legal industry leaders. He has testified as expert on issues of cost and burden, appropriate uses of technology, adequacy of production, and on findings from computer forensic examination.

Chuck holds a BA from Brandeis University and JD from Lewis & Clark Law School. Among several organizations, he is a past executive board member of the New England Legal Technology Professionals (NELTP) and the The Sedona Conference Working Group 6, where he is part of a writing team for Principles for Disclosure in International Arbitration.

After years in Providence, RI, Chuck and his wife now call New Orleans home, where their love of good food and music finds no limits.
