It’s not a secret that many legal technology-themed blogs have established themselves as useful sources for people interested in keeping up with changes in the space. Last spring, Jon wrote about ten great blogs that tech-savvy litigators should read. However, it’s not just blog posts that can serve as a valuable education tool: podcasts present another opportunity to stay on top of legal technologies – especially when you’re on the go. Here is a list of five great legal podcasts to get you started:

1) Lawpreneur Radio

Miranda McCroskey, Lawpreneur Radio’s host, paved her own way to success after leaving her job as a law firm associate. Her interviews with other lawpreneurs are both inspiring and entertaining. The impetus for the show was “her recognition that lawyers and successful business owners are not necessarily equivalent.”

Frequency: Several times per week; Listen on iTunes

2) The Kennedy-Mighell Report

The Kennedy-Mighell Report is one of several dozen podcasts on the Legal Talk Network and is well worth checking out. Legal technologists Dennis Kennedy and Tom Mighell have been posting episodes since 2009, providing in-depth analysis of legal technology matters. This means anything from lawyer productivity tips or marketing ideas to industry commentary or event analyses.

Frequency: Several times per week; Listen on iTunes

3) This Week in Law

This Week in Law is hosted by attorney and legal blogger Denise Howell. She invites panelists to discuss current legal cases – from amicus brief to summary judgment, including those that center on technology.

Frequency: Weekly; Listen on iTunes

Attorneys Joshua Gilliland and Jessica Mederson discuss everything from ediscovery to Marvel comics.  Your inner geek will enjoy this light-hearted podcast where all things geek and law are up for discussion!

Frequency: Several times per month; Listen on Stitcher

5) Digital Detectives

Digital Detectives is another of the Legal Talk Network’s podcasts. Anyone interested in digital forensics, ediscovery, and data security topics will enjoy hearing cyber-security leaders Sharon Nelson and John Simek inform listeners of the latest trends in technology, cyber threats, and more.

Frequency: Monthly; Listen on iTunes

New: Lawyerist Podcast

Lawyerist just launched their new legal podcast at the start of the year! Hosts Sam Glover and Aaron Street plan to interview lawyers and answer community questions. Check out the first episode, which is already live.

Bonus: Serial

A list of legal podcasts wouldn’t be complete without mentioning this recent phenomenon. This captivating story about a perplexing crime in the late 90s, told over 12 carefully-crafted episodes, has captured the attention of many.
